Description:

An angel, Cygna, flies through space, accompanied by a swan. This painting I made in the darkest month of the year. The title Çygna comes from the constellation Cygnus (swan). The swan is the symbol of power en purity. In German myths some feminine or divine beings can transform themselves into a swan.

I just made a first design of this paining when I visited the Eise Eisinga Planetarium in Franeker (a small town in the north of Holland). It’s the oldest planetarium in the world that’s still working. The dedication and tenacity with which Eise Eisinga built this beautiful planetarium in his own living room, enhanced my inspiration.
